You should not equate other as worthless. I would not get excited about the other category. Here is a link to the software, I used the Yosemite version so can't comment on any other versions. But it certainly worked immediately for me, and its not a solution i have seen anywhere else on the internet after very extensive searching and hours / days / weeks / months of frustration. Obviously you must use your own judgment if you want to use it or not.
#Omnidisksweeper not deleting mac
The Mac seems to be working just fine, I have ran all my usual programs with no problems. The main tabs I used were maintenance, cleaning and automation and I ran through the various sub menus within those. Here is the screenshot of my drive capacity, unfortunately i don't have a before and after but 120gb down to 14.38gb are the figures.Ībove is a screen shot of the Onyx program afterwards. I can live with that, and I have my drive back. Once I had finished doing that, I checked in about this mac and just like that I now have 14.38gb of others storage. I then simply ran as many functions as i possibly could, each time you have to restart you computer and move onto the next feature.

#Omnidisksweeper not deleting full
I read that you must give the application full permissions somehow but that was above my head, and so i carried on searching, just as frustrated as most other people i guess!īy chance I found an app called Onyx, which I opened and it verified my disc as being healthy. When I ran Omni Disc Sweeper, it was only recognising around 130gb of space, asthough the drive was actually 130gb in total size. I have a 250gb internal hard drive, of which 120gb was taken up with 'others' data. This is my first post here so Im not sure exactly the requirements, but I will give you guys the info below, and if it works for you also then thats great. Today, by stroke of luck I came across the tool that solved my problems. Omnidisc Sweeper did actually help me clear around 30gb of data from my hard drive, however the 'others' data was left the same. I have tried clean my mac, omnidisc sweeper and numerous other fixes suggested on these and other forums. I am by no means an expert about computers or anything like that, I am a music producer and this has been effecting my workflow for several months. I have been searching the forums for months trying to find a solution to the problem of 'other' storage taking up a huge percentage of my Macbook hard drive. I am not sure if this is in the correct categories on this forum, but I have included as much info as possible to make it easy for people to reach.
